Each time I come across something unique it thrills me. This pair of earrings are English, circa 1850, and are exquisitely rendered in gold and turquoise. The condition defies the age, as these are near pristine. They are designed as clusters of flower heads centered with cabachon turquoise stones. The original patina of the 18k gold is extraordinary and rich. It is also remarkably light, and almost floats on the ear and yet it makes a bold statement. It measures almost 2 3/8 inches long with th ...click for details

These earrings are simply wonderful. Originally Georgian cuff buttons, they have been converted to earrings with the addition of gold wires. The smoky quartz are large, beautifully faceted and set in hand crimped gold settings. The stones are foil backed creating the rich hue of topaz. The color has hints of brown and warm golden tones. Foiling during this period, was used to enhance the color of the stone as they were characteristically set with closed backs. The gold work is well done and the b ...click for details

The central citrine is open to the light and is bright and rich in color. The others are set in closed backs and foiled to reflect the light. These have a beautiful mellow color. The top section too, has a closed bezel set stone with the same coloration as the central citrine. The colors of the small surrounding st ...click for details

Strikingly beautiful, these faceted rock crystal earrings are French, circa 1900. They are designed in two sections, a top section of faceted rock crystals joining a finely faceted briolette cut bottom. The top of each drop has a faceted ruby set in a crimped open back collet and an engraved mount. The wires retain a French eagle's head for 18k gold. They measure a bold 2 1/2 inches from the top of the wire x 1/2 inch across the bottom drop. The condition is excellent. The crystals brillian ...click for details

Antique 15k citrine earrings, circa 1880 with finely hand engraved settings. The large lemon colored citrines with hints of honey, are faceted and set in decorative claw mounts. The earrings are most likely Scottish, as the bold citrines and the engraving would perfectly complement brooches and bracelets of this period. They measure 1 3/4 inches long from the top of the wire x 3/4 inches across the widest span. The citrine measures approximately 1/2 inch across x 5/8 down. These antique French garnet earrings are circa 1890. They are Perpignon garnets from the region in France that they are made. Unlike Bohemian garnets so popular at this same period, these have a beautiful mellow color. The cut too, is distinctive as the facets are cut across the entire curving surface, not the typical raised rose cut. The garnets form a flower cluster and each petal has a slightly different hue, created by foil placed beneath the stone. Each garnet is set in cut down gold coll ...click for details

These long, Victorian, dramatic earrings are English, circa 1860. They are designed with well match banded agates with a desirable dark brown, black and white combination. The agates have been hollowed, as was customary to lighten the weight of the stone and they are delightful on the ear. When worn, the stones have a mellow translucent quality, as they were not closed in gold in the backs. The bezels are substantial and the proportions graceful. The earrings are 15k and the gold retains the or ...click for details

The nineteenth century English silversmiths had distinctive artistry. The jewelry was hand engraved, often with flowers and tiny silver "bullets" decorated the perimeter. In this example, the engraving is refined and the silver work beautiful. It is wonderful finding an original set from this period, especially in excellent condition. The reverse of the brooch and earrings has tiny little holes which allowed the air to escape during the manufacturing process. The top of each earring f ...click for details
