Sorry - This item now SOLD

DESCRIPTION:
A charming air-twist wine glass with a round funnel pan-top bowl engraved with a fruiting vine border above a double series air-twist stem composed of a spiral cable inside a pair of mercury corkscrew spirals all standing on a plain conical foot with broken pontil mark. Although the glass looks fine and delicate in fact it is robustly made and feels surprisingly heavy in the hand. A number of factors make the glass quite a rarity. Double series air-twists are more uncommon than single, and the pan-top bowl scarcer still. The addition of the engraving makes for a very fine glass. Ex Peter Hough Collection, Harrogate.

DIMENSIONS:
Height 6 inches;
Bowl diameter 2¼ inches;
Foot diameter 2⅝ inches.

CONDITION:
In very good condition with no restoration. A small insignificant, air inclusion to the foot and the usual signs of wear on the foot and bowl rim.

SOLD

DESCRIPTION:
A wine goblet of English lead crystal metal with bucket bowl above a multi-spiral air twist stem with short plain neck leading to an inverted baluster shoulder knop and basal knop all standing on a plain conical foot. The majority of MSAT’s are made in two parts. This glass is of three-part construction and is also unusual in having both a bucket bowl and knopped stem. However, seeing this construction in a goblet is what makes this glass unusual.

DIMENSIONS:
Height 6⅞ inches;
Bowl diameter 3 inches;
Foot diameter 3⅛ inches.

CONDITION:
Good, original condition, with wear to underside of foot and bowl rim.

DESCRIPTION:
A rather refined Georgian lead crystal wine glass with large round funnel bowl flute moulded to the lower half above a multi-spiral air twist stem with an inverted baluster shoulder knop all standing on plain conical foot. This really is a most delightful and charming glass. The photographs unfortunately fail to fully represent the beautiful unctuous metal or the way the trapped air in the stem sparkles in the light.

DIMENSIONS:
Height – 6¾ inches;
Bowl diameter – 2⅞ inches;
Foot diameter – 2¾ inches.

CONDITION:
Good original condition with a small (1.5 mm) and unobtrusive white inclusion one third of the way up the bowl. There are the expected patterns of wear to the foot and bowl rim.
