A rare small keris wrought from a single piece of iron. This type of keris is known as "keris sajen" or "keris Majapahit" although that last name doesn't mean a connection to the early Javanese kingdom. Keris sajen are usually small and with it's 24cm this one is no exception. They have to be regarded as protective amulets, not as weapons. The hilt -in the shape of a squatting ancestor- emphasizes the supernatural aspect of this type of keris. This tiny keris ...click for details

An elegant and large cast iron burner from Shanxi province. Dim.: LxDxH 38x27,5x25,5cm. There's text on three sides. One of it reads Jiajing 4th year (1525). Other parts of the text panels are a list of family names; people who donated money to make the burner. The lower part of the burner shows very strong similarity to furniture from the period.
