$325 SALE PRICE

This is such a charming, humorous pair of dog prints, depicting a terrier (Cairn?) who is at first, sick in bed. Until someone mentions "rats" and he comes to life! So typical of a true terrier! These are signed by the famous American artist Abbot Henderson Thayer (1849-1921) and appear to come from a book, as there are numbers in the corner. The first one is labeled "A very sick dog" and the second one says "Who said rats?". They are housed in a antique matche ...click for details

This is such a unusual and interesting piece. From the gorgeous pine frame, painted long ago to mimic birdseye maple, to the unusual watercolor with applied cut outs, there is not another fox hunt scene quite like this! It consists of a hunt scene made up of naively rendered hounds and hunters milling about while on a ridge stands the fox! The mounted hunter is dressed in traditional clothing while the other one appears to look more European. Very strange! Both the fox and the title plate, ...click for details

We have a charming of oil painting of a springer spaniel holding a gamebird, perhaps a snipe. It is painting on a shallow round bowl made of papier mache that measures 14 inches in diameter, and dates to the late 1800's. Condition is okay, with all-over crazing, and some chipping and flaking of the paint, especially at the edges. Some of the edges are quite frayed, which is expected considering the age and the fact that the bowl is made of papier mache. Nonetheless this is a wonderful ol ...click for details

We have a very nice piece of English folk art, a hand painted clock face from the mid 1800's. It has the name of the maker, J. Edgecumbe, from Bristol. The paint and old coat of varnish are a bit crackled and chippy, but it has a wonderful primitive look. A nice piece to add to your collection! It is, of course, very heavy, and measures 13 inches square.

Here is a really beautiful old game board that we have framed for hanging. It features a steeplechase theme and dates to the early 1900's. This game is marked "J.W.S.& S. Bavaria". The artwork is incredible- lots of action in the various scenes around the track- we have several misshaps- an badly injured jockey, a horse that has entered the crowd, and several riders down. We also see a picnic, a fight among the spectators, and the weighing of some jockeys. Lots of fun! ...click for details

It is housed in a custom frame that measures 55 X 24.25 inches. This is one of a collection of vintage sporting game boards that we have gotten framed. It would look wonderful in a den or game room.

This is a wonderful old primitive hunt horn, made from a carved out cow's horn. It is quite old, dating to the mid 1800's. The name of the owner, J. M. Murphey, is engraved into the horn. I believe the carved mouthpiece is made from wood. It measures about 10.5 inches long. Great piece of early American folk art and sporting memorabilia. Original price was $475.

We are not sure whether this is a weathervane or a windmill weight. We did an image search and couldn't find a picture of either that looked like it. Similar, but not quite the same. And we do not know why it has the perfect hole in middle of the body- perhaps it was part of a sign? It is a full figured horse made of bronze, with a gilt surface, much of which has worn off. It is large- 11.5 inches long and a bit over 10 inches tall, and quite heavy as expected. If anyone has knowledg ...click for details

A large naively-rendered painting of a West Highland terrier, laying on a figured rug with a red ball. Such a cute painting with a folk art feel! The painting appears to be acrylic on board. Condition is good but for some small flakes of missing paint in the dark background behind the dog- these are visible in the photo and could easily be touched up if one desires. This is signed and dates to the mid 1900's. The frame is made of reclaimed wood and measures 27 X 21 inches. Original pr ...click for details

This is a stunning, large clock face or dial, from an English long clock or grandfather clock, as we call them in America. It is richly decorated with warm, beautiful, hand painted scenes depicting symbols of the time in English culture. There is a traditional English landscape painted on the central arch while the four corners show scenes that are more exotic, suggesting faraway places overseas, such as the middle east. This clock face dates to the first quarter of the 1800's and is in ...click for details

This is an ornately carved, highly detailed mirror from the Black Forest region of Germany, dating to the mid-late 1800's. The frame is richly decorated with twigs, vines, and grapes, and has its original warm patina. It does lack a few pieces which have broken off at some point, and I have tried to show this in the photos. There is evidence of some restoration, but it barely affects the appearance or structure, which is very sturdy. The size is 18 X 11 inches measured at its widest poin ...click for details
