A superb Narino pedestal bowl from the Tuza cultural complex of Colombia, ca. 1250 – 1500 AD. It is 7-1/2” in diameter, 4” high and is decorated with two pairs of opposing deer, separated by characteristic star designs forming butterfly patterns and surrounded by stylized monkeys. All are fertility related motifs, with the deer representing the important male-female duality motif. In excellent condition, with strong paint and good mineral deposits.

A choice Chorrera bowl from Ecuador, ca. 1200 – 200 BC. This large “belly bowl” is 5” in diameter and has the characteristic head protruding at the top. The edges are beautifully scalloped, with the upper side of the chamber incised with linear designs and the underside covered with the typical red slip. Nicely burnished, good mineral deposits and root marks.

A wonderful Jamacoaque platform scene from Ecuador, ca. 300 BC – 400 AD. The beautifully detailed figure is seated on a 5” diameter platform, enclosed by a corral, which is indicative of his elite social status. The unusual object in his hands represents a large tuber or fruit, showing this to be a harvest celebration scene. Overall in excellent condition, with strong paint, good mineral deposits and root marks.

An adorable Jamacoaque female shaman figure from Ecuador, ca. 300 BC – 400 AD. She is 3-3/4” high, is posed seated, holding a snuff jar in her right hand and concealing another object pressed against her lap with the left hand. A superb Jamacoaque snuff jar with figure from Ecuador, ca. 300 BC – 400 AD. The jar and connected shaman figure are mounted on a 6” x 4-1/4” platform with corral enclosure. The scene depicts a shamanic spirit hut, with the spirit of the shaman emerging from within. The figure is 4-1/4” high and is adorned with an elaborate headdress, while the jar/hut is covered with fine appliqué decoration. Overall in excellent condition, with good mineral deposits and just minor repair.
