An original 1820 engraving of fox hunting vignettes that has been hand tinted. These scenes are by the famous sporting artist Henry Alken. It is in its original mat and there is consistent age toning throughout. There are also some darker age spots and some rippling in the woven paper. It is housed in an antique burled veneer frame that measures 14.25 X 13 inches. The frame has numerous small chips at the rim, hardly noticeable. Original price was $400.

Pair of watercolored ink drawn foxes that have been killed and hung up. Typical European school "nature morte", hunting game still life paintings. These date to the very early 1900's and are probably French or German. Condition is excellent except for a cut-off corner on one painting that was laid on top of a mat for framing. This flaw is easily seen in the photo, but not terribly noticeable. It was, however, the only way to frame this painting. They are in vintage burled woo ...click for details

This is the second of a pair of superb old original British watercolor paintings of typical English fox hunt scenes, showing fox hunters going over fences in an open landscape. These are not prints or engravings, but original paintings. They have lots of age spots, typical for works on paper, and easily seen in the photographs. These can be removed if one is so inclined; I have no problem with authentic aging, so I have left them alone. We are unable to find a signature which is a shame bec ...click for details

This is an unusual ladies compact, brass with a gilt wash, and decorated with painted vignettes of fox hunting scenes. It measures 3 X 3 inches and is in good condition, with only some surface scratches and wear to the gilt surface. We think this piece dates to the 1930-40 era and is marked 'Made in England'. The clasp and hinge are tight and secure and there is a small bit of powder remaining in the powder chamber. The mirror is missing but could be easily replaced. These are somet ...click for details

Magnificent, huge oil painting of a mother fox bringing dinner, a goose, to her hungry fox cubs. It is signed by the artist, J. T. Wortendyke, who used 'pointillism' to create the picture. Pointillism is a technique of painting in which small, distinct dots of pure color are applied in patterns to form an image. Georges Seurat developed the technique in 1886, branching from Impressionism. This painting was restored and relined at some point, so the canvas is in very good, sturdy cond ...click for details
