This figure represents a protector in the sitting position with the hands joined in the "Namaste" gesture. Note that the figure was initially covered with a white mixture of mud and mineral pigment which has been lost or cleaned giving that strange color to the wood. Note also the necklace carved around the neck, very good condition . more pictures and informations upon request. Height 25 3/4 inches (65cm), Weight 10 kg.
Although we don't like to push too much our piece, with an experience of more than 20 years in the field of Himalayan tribal art, this one belongs for sure to the very exceptional category.
The impressive watering carving has been made possible because the figure has been carved in very hard wood.
