A pair of very fine quality sheet gold rings consisting of flat wire-work and repousse bands mounted with floral appliqués. The delicate nature of these rings would suggest that they were probably made for funerary purposes as they would be too fragile for actual use. Greek, c. 4th Century BC, possibly from Cyprus. A bright blue glazed faience amulet in the form of the goddess Tauret. Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 730-332 BC Intact Size: 3.3 x 1.2 cms Ex. collection: C. R. Stone, UK; acquired around Heliopolis in Egypt during the early 1940's. Mr. Stone was attached to the intelligence division of the Royal Air Force and based in Egypt for a large part of World War II.
