Lacquered in black, gold and silver with takamaki-e tecnique on a gold sprinkled ground with five crows and a setting sun on crashing waves. ; the red sun rendered in togidashi. Fitted with an iron ojime with scrolling vines. Interior in reddish gold nashiji. The scene evokes a haiku by the poet and painter Yosa Buson (1716 - 1784): Tobi-tsukusu / karasu hitotsu-zutsu / aki no kure. [ Endig their flight / one by one, crows / in the autumn dusk]
