A charming group of three small boxwood okimono, depicting the sanbiki saru, the famed monkeys who "see, here and speak no evil". Each is well-carved in the round, two having eyes of inlaid horn. The fur details are subtly engraved and the monkeys have a whimsical expression. These are perfect cabinet pieces. It appears two toes on one monkeys foot have been recarved otherwise these delightful pieces are in pristine condition. Each monkey measures 3 in. in height. C. 1900.

This nicely done, two piece set, depicts a father and his son working around their farm and preparing fish. The detailed carving and the nicely etched clothing make for a very nice display set. The pieces have a couple of age cracks (see last 2 pictures) but other then that, they are in good condition. Each piece measures 9.0 in. in height by 7.25 in. wide. Late Meiji or early Taisho.
