Fabulous Akoda style Oribe koro/teaburi incense burner. The akoda style is a stylized chrysanthemum like shape made popular in Seto Yaki wares, especially popularized by Kato Esuke in the Taisho Period/Early Showa. In the signed original box, written on the cover is "Setoyaki Esuke Saku" seto ceramic by Esuke. "Akoda Nari Teaburi" An Akoda Style Ceramic. A masterpiece Kato Usuke antique Japanese oribe vase, c.1930. Employing a `seidoyu` dark green glaze, it is a type of oribe pottery produced in Gifu Prefecture only, (north of Kyoto) since the early 17th century. Exquisite antique Japanese early Taisho Period, c.1915, flower vase with the trademark rich, deep oribe olive greens and brown iron glaze geometrical designs. Two crabs adorn the sides. It is signed Kato Sakusuke the 3rd. There is a very slight hairline on the vase lip from the kiln firing and one of the crabs tiny knobs is missing but otherwise in great condition. c.1915. Oribe-ware comes from Mino clay one of the six great ceramic centers in ancient Japan. The blue-green Oribe colors are distinctive for their iron decorations in their glaze. In the original box signed "mukozuke" meaning set of side dishes, this set of 5 stunning antique Japanese oribe olive green and beige dishes has a beautiful rectangular design on the inside bottom flanked by connecting rings on each end. Each dish has three tiny legs. Oribe was a famed kiln center in Edo Japan 1614-1867 known for it's avant garde designs and elegant serving dishes. All 5 in perfect condition. c.1830. (5¾" x 4" x 2") (15cm x 10cm x 5cm). Shipping/Insurance included in price.
