This is a chromed metal powder jar c1920s-30s which contained Jasmine of Southern France powder, made by Lorie Perfumers. The round box (flat topped one is sold) is a round hinged egg-style all metal container. It is marked LORIE PERFUMERS TORONTO BOSTON NOTTINGHAM and Made in Canada. It is 3-1/4" diameter, has a gilded interior and flat base. There are 4 very shallow dents in the box. It is otherwise in excellent shape - it would make a nifty small jewel box or display - with no cracks, scrapes, monograms, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs except as noted above. A great pair of rectangular glass 1920s gentleman's after-shave or cologne and talc bottles with Chinese hand made and enamelled brass caps and bases. The bottles (which were made in the US) are clear glass with ribbed shoulders and they are marked U.S.A. 4 J.B.W. Co. 9 5 OZ. 2 and they measure 3" x 1-3/4" and they stand 4-1/4" tall. The fitted removable pierced brass bases have lovely enamelling over brass flowers and plants, in pleasing shades of purple, green, blue and aqua. The lids are similarly enamelled. The lids don't have liners and may have had cork, and the bottles have a small opening for dispensing a splash of after-shave or talc. They are unsigned, and they are even engraved on the bottom. They were owned by an American officer who served in China in the 1920s. This great pair is in excellent condition, with no cracks, chips, dents, corrosion or damage other than some slight losses and minor cracking to areas of the enamel (slight, and apparent only under close observation), and the loss of most of the original gilding which was over the brass. A fine and rare 18th century ivory and 15k rose gold (unmarked but tested) patch box c1780-90. This Georgian 3-5/8" x 1-1/4" box has a rose gold border on the top as well as an oval planchet with a heraldic lion engraved; it has a gold hinge and pushbotton clasp. It has a velvet interior (missing on the top). Patch boxes held the faux beauty marks in fashion at the time, and this one dates to c1780-90. This item is in very good original condition with no corrosion, scrapes, dents, losses or repairs other than: a crack to the ivory along the bottom and on one end of the top, some minor bowing or warping of the top, the loss of velvet on the top and some minor wear to the nap on the bottom, and a small ivory loss under the gold rim on the top. A great genuine vintage Art Deco 1920s rouge compact by the famous designer Richard Hudnut. This 1-5/8" chrome plated hinged compact is marked MARVELOUS RICHARD HUDNUT DISTRIBUTOR NEW YORK PARIS MADE IN U.S.A., it has the original powder puff, mirror and some rouge. This item is in excellent original condition with no scrapes, dents, monograms, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a bit of clouding to the mirror silver, the loss of the gold lettering on the puff (traces remain) and some minor patina on the exterior from use (exaggerated by our halogens in the pictures). The 4" diameter and 4-3/4" tall lidded powder jar and 3-1/4" across perfume atomizer are both unsigned; the perfume retains its original hardware, silk-wrapped tube, tassel and rubber squeeze bulb. A 2-5/8" diameter engraved sterling silver signed Birks powder compact c1940s. This vanity item features fine floreate engraving on one side with an ANN 11/3/45 dedication. It is stamped BIRKS STERLING on the back, it weighs 55.0 grams, and it is in very good original condition with no bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some wear to the puff, caking of the powder screen, some very minor spotting to the mirror and a few shallow dents on the plain side.
