This is a wonderful piece of Khmer culture pottery dating to the 12th century AD. Though it does show signs of repair it is still a magnificent piece. It is over 13 cm tall with a creamy glaze. It has a lotus petal decoration around the body. It also has a character inscribed on the base which is common to these pieces. This is a truly rare piece of ancient Asian pottery that would be great for any collection or simply as a decoration or conversation starter.

In the mid 15th century a freighting junk loaded with fine Vietnamese pottery sank in an area of the South China Sea called the “Dragon’s Embrace.” Around 1994 local fishermen began finding pottery in their nets. Thus what has become known as the "Hoi An Hoard" was discovered. This blue and white porcelain jar was purchased as part of that hoard. However, there is no documentation to prove its provenance so I am selling this piece as from the period and country stated without a guarant ...click for details
