A charming antique Russian wooden tobacco box painted in the traditional Russian art manner with 17century Moscow scenes of beautiful old architecture and the people of Moscow as Boyars with wives, merchants, monks and the members of the Tsar infantry guard Streltsi. The surface of the box was carved in low relief so that the paintings were on a raised surface. The base of the box is signed in the Cyrillic alphabet.
