An Interesting & Very Rare Ancient Engraved Bronze Pendant of St George from Jerusalem. Dated between 1000 - 1200 AD. Although St. George is important to the Orthodox Religion (feast days April 23 and Nov 3) there is no tradition of the dragon until the Crusaders arrive. Only under western influence does the story of George and the dragon appear on eastern icons. This gorgeous etched pendant was found near Bethlehem. A lovely antiquity, intact and wearable.
