Gorgeous white egret on a snowy winter branch vigilent and extremely well painted. A tint of yelow in the eye gives the egret a real life feeling. Painted in the Taisho Period c.1926 by Hekisui, an acclaimed master of the time. Shipping to usa/western Europe $50. (L: 200cm; w: 50cm)

Dynamic painting on silk of a tiger on the prowl. Beautiful colors and movement depicted. The painting by Kamura Yokoku, (b.1885-1955), whose real name is Murakami Chikara, is a masterpiece. His teacher was the famed artist Nishijima Seiho. The condition is very good with only a few color spots that are almost invisible. Shipping/insurance to usa/western europe $40. Exceptional Yoshitora original woodblock scroll dated feb. 1866. Yoshitora's real name was Tatsugoro Nagashima and he was a pupil of Kuniyoshi. This woodblock scroll with vivid detail and color is of an 'oiran' the queen of the Geishas. This style of woodblock scroll is called 'Takenaga Hosho' indicating the long length of the woodblock and in this field the narrow width is called 'habahiro hashira-e' (pillar style). The woodblock is 71cm x 23cm, the entire scroll is 147cm x 37cm. Shipping/insurance to usa/western europe $50.

This c.1760 painting of a dragon on silk was created by Ryosetsu, who also went by the name Jinensai. A painter in the Kano school tradition, Jinensai was a Shinto priest and pupil of the priest Ryogetsu. Jinensai was a leading sumi-e artist of the time and followed the styles of Sesshu and Mu-ch'i. Antique Japanese tea ceremony scroll of sparrows in playful flight. Signed 'Hokyo Shoei'. Hokyo is the honorific name awarded only to top class artists. Kono Shoei being one. He is famous for a scroll he did in 1793 for Matsuo Basho, the famous haiku poet. Fusuma sliding doors he painted can still be seen in Manjuin Temple in the northeast part of Kyoto. c.1793.
