Fabulous antique Japanese Shigaraki tokkuri sake jug dated early Meiji Period c.1885. The trademark Shigaraki green nagashi striped overglaze is on a white hagi underglaze at the top while the base is a dark blueish-black contrasting glaze. There is a spot in the black where the glaze didn't take in the kiln leaving us a glance at the original clay, which rather adds to this piece's wonderful allure and charm. No cracks. c.1885.
