Dated 1871. American. An impressive set of 12 Victorian sterling individual salts in their original leather box. Made for the prestigious New York firm of Starr & Marcus by Gorham, these salt dips combine two of the great names in silver from the late 1800s. Monogrammed FL. Interiors of salts are gilded. Circa 1780. England. Pair of Bilston Battersea enameled open salts. This is the best pair of Battersea salts we have ever seen. Three different pastoral scenes are painted on the sides, and the condition is just stunning, with one tiny area of loss to the bottom of one of the feet on one of the salts. There is also a bit of crazing to the interior white enamel, which is common on pieces of this age.
