A hexagonal snuff bottle - or even possibly a medicine bottle - made of wood inlaid with bone ivory insets. The wood is probably rosewood from the from the color and grain. Each of the bone ivory insets have different incised picture of flowers - the both the top and the bottom of the piece are lappet border of palm leaves. A nice round glass snuff bottle made to resemble agate with swirls of grays and rust browns. Has a green glass stopper but no spoon- the base is flat. The bottle measures 2 1/2" tall by 2" wide by at the waist by 1 1/4" thick. We date this bottle sometime between the 1930 and 1980s. Excellent condition.
A relatively modern but charming snuff bottle made of Peking Glass and shaped like a Koi leaping over Red Wave. The dark red waves make the base so the bottle can stand on its own - there is a small simulated pearl as the stopper - nice details carved into the fish on fins, scales, etc. Excellent condition with no chips or hairlines. A dark ruby red snuff bottle with silver alloy overlay of finally carved dragons front and back that are held on by silver bands and with silver top and base. A metal stopper with red glass top. The bottle is 3 1/3" tall by 1 5/8" wide by 1 1/4" thick. Two impressed marks on foot - not translated. We date this bottle to the early 20th century - possibly earlier.
A Mongolian Snuff bottle with turquoise and carnelian insets on the sides - relief decoration of Buddhist symbols over a stylized plant - all within a semi circular raised band. Measures 2 1/2" high by 1 7/8" wide by 5/8" thick. An impressed mark on base that loosely translates as finance, money or the like. Probably dates from the late 19th to early 20th century.
Very delicately carved dark blue/purple overlay Peking Glass bottle – the front and back each deeply carved in the shape of a stylized gui (mallow) flower - on a golden honey-like semi-translucent base. On the two thinner sides stalks of bamboo have been carved from the overlay glass. Well hollowed. Mint and original condition. We date this bottle to the late 19th to early 20th century, Qing dynasty. Height: 5.75 cm, Width: 4.50 cm.
This snuff bottle was made from an early Chinese blue and white medicine bottle with the addition of the domed round stone stopper and attached spoon. We date it to the late 18th to early 19th century. There are five characters on each side done in underglaze blue on a white body. A rare dendrifical chalcedony snuff bottle – also known as “macaroni agate” or “macaroni quartz”. That unusual material is characterized by the unusual "tubes" caught in the milky agate material. A dark agate snuff bottle carved on one side with a finely detailed relief sculpture of Kwanyin seated in the posture or Royal Repose. Nice rounded rock crystal stopper attached to an ivory spoon, believed to be the original. The bottle measures 2" tall including the stopper by 1 5/8" wide at its widest x 1/2" thick. A grey nephrite Jade snuff bottle with darker gray/black spotted bands – an orange colored stone stopper - probably the original – of a slightly flatted round ovoid form on a flat oval base – well hollowed 2 1/2" high including the stopper by 1 5/8" wide by 1" thick – excellent condition – dates to mid to late 19th century.
Of a rounded ovoid shape on a flat oval base, this snuff bottle is of a most unusual color. We believe it to be a form of chalcedony agate, however, it could be from the yellow quartz family. Either way, it has a lovely golden yellow color that has fine uniformity throughout. The stopper is of pink tourmaline and is attached to a dark brown spoon - possibly horn and most probably the original. A fairly large orange colored agate snuff bottle with a nice white and orange glass stopper. Form is a fat rounded oval on a raised oval foot. The bottle is very well hollowed and measures a full 2 1/2" high including the stopper by 1 7/8" wide at the shoulder by 1 1/8" thick. A lovely moss agate snuff bottle in a rounded flatted shape on a flat oval base. Measures 2 1/6" high exclusive of the stooper and is 2" wide by 1" thick. The stopper must have had a stone at one time, however it is long gone and only the remains of a cork base and silver collar are attached to the ivory spoon.
