A decorative swing-handled serving dish with a cut glass bowl c1910-20, either for candy or butter. This 5-1/4" dish has a swing-up pierced handle and a thick pierced silver mount, which has the mark STERLING as well as an obscured maker's mark; it would make a great bonbon or mint dish. This is a 19th century silver and ivory 30-1/4" riding crop or whip c1870-80. The whip itself has braided and lacquered stringing over a leather core, and the 6-1/8" handle features thick and nicely tooled sterling silver work. The silver is marked STERLING 4988 and there is a tiny 1413 etched into the ivory; this item is probably American in origin, and it is in excellent original condition with no monograms, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs; the lacquer/varnish is all-original, and there are some thin and expected age cracks to the ivory and the possible loss of a tassel on the braided end of the whip. A stunning, top quality German 800 silver tall claret jug from the Arts and Crafts period. This c.1900 vintage claret decanter has a heavy sterling handle and hinged top with a ball thumb rest mounted on a tall ribbed cut crystal decanter. It measures 13-7/8" tall and 5-1/2" across the cut crystal base. It is stamped Gebr. Friedland, a Berlin jewellery firm, operated by the sons after the death of the founder Friedland in 1829. It has the German silver marks (post-1888 crescent & crown stamp), 800 silver, 49961 and a maker's stamp for Koch & Bergfeld of Bremen (est. 1829). There is a very finely engraved heraldic family crest with a fish, knight's helmet with three feathers and engraved scrolling. This this top quality rarity is in excellent condition with no cracks, etching or discolouration, silver corrosion or damage, repairs or alterations; there is a 1/4" chip to the crystal on the bottom rim which is only slightly noticeable when the piece is displayed from that side. This this serving piece weighs 64 grams (over 2 ounces of silver). It has not ever been monogrammed. An elegant and high quality pair of 800 silver German 8" viande or meat serving forks in their original fitted box c1900-10. These forks are stamped 800 with the crown and eagle mark (Frankfurt, pre-1888), most likely produced by Bruckmann and Sohne (1805-1973). The forks are an interesting combiation of elegant Neoclassic revival design paired with the elements of Jugendstil - note the graceful and simple fork shape and crisp design to the ends of the handle. The 9" x 3-1/2" box is a tan coloured watered silk with a Greek key border and bronze coloured fittings with a patterned silk interior lid and cotton fitted platform with twisted cord trim. The forks weigh a substantial 83 grams, and they have traces of the original gilding. Lovely quality silver. This set is in mostly excellent vintage condition with no pattern wear, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some visible dents and bends to one tine of one fork. The box/case has some slight rubbing to the box's edges and some interior spotting and staining. A nice Georgian period 12-1/8" sterling silver basting , stuffing or dressing spoon, fully hallmarked for London, England 1809-10 in the fiddle pattern. Made by William Eley, William Fearn & William Chawner (registered 1808), one of the most noteable "familys" of English spoon makers. Examples with a largish bowl like this are sometimes also referred to as hash spoons.
