$2250

A very rare Fedor Petrov Russian silver covered jam or mustard pot c1760. It is our pleasure to offer this wonderful piece of 250 year old Russian silver. It stands 4-1/4" tall on its three ball feet, and it measures 2-1/2" in diameter. The repousse work is superb, as is the stippling and design of this pot, and it a fine example of Petrov's work. This piece bears the marks of Mikhail Bobrovshchikov (the Mb mark), the assay master from Moscow from 1755-68. It also has the semi-legible Moscow town mark of 18th century vintage (man on a horse), and Fedor Petrov's maker's mark (initials in a heart). Petrov was active in Moscow from 1760-89 (reference: Russian Gold and Silverwork 17th-19th Century, by Alexander von Solodkoff). The pot retains the original gilding on the interior of the pot and lid, and it has remnants of the gilding on the upper border and traces around the ball feet (the repousse body was ungilded). This museum quality piece is in excellent condition with no cracks, losses, monograms, corrosion, repairs or damage other than a small dent on one ball foot and some looseness to the inserted ball finial of the lid. Shipping is insured post or FedEx We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US.
