The markings on the ricasso seem to indicate that this very unusual Hunting Sword was made in the village of Tjikoreh, called today Chikorea, on the island of Java. This village is well known for producing quality edged weapons and were apparently often chosen by the Dutch Colonials for custom swords. While this sword has a very characteristic European style antler hilt, guard with reverse quillions, and scabbard mounts the blade clearly shows Indonesian influence.
