These abacus are great gifts for the engineer or mathematician in your family! Becoming more and more difficult to find! Condition is perfect....very functional. Length is 15.25 inches (39 cms.) and width is 2.75 inches (7 cms.) Circa: Taisho era, 1910-1920's.

Pair of Japanese porcelain "Kitsune" or Shinto FOX GODS, which are so popular even in today's modern Japan! One fox has a ball in his mouth and the other has a scroll in his mouth. Condition is good except for the fox with the scroll...the tail was broken and repaired, hairline crack is visible upon close inspection. Height is 7.5 inches or 9 cms and width of base is 3.25 inches (8.5 cms) s 2.2 inches of 5.5 cms.) Circa: pre 1970's.

Large size with the pestle 9.5 inches (24 cms.) in length and the diameter of the mortar is 6 5/8 inches or 17 cms. Height is 3 5/8 inches or 9.5 cms. Condition is perfect! No chips, cracks or restorations. There is a lip to pour the contents from the mortar.

Japanese wood & lacquer "Yokogi," or Carp fish, "Koi" with contemporary hook & rope. This was originally used to hold cast-iron pots over a wood burning fire to cook food inside a home! Well carved, nice form, with the tail fin nicely curved as if the carp is swimming. Circa: 1910-1920. Length is 19 inches or 49 cms. width is 4.75 inches or 12 cms. Condition is good.

Japanese earthenware WHISTLE (that works) from SETO in the form of a deity with bulging eyes, long beard and pot belly partially covered with a fan. This was apparently in use in the early 19th C. as an alarm while out walking at night or perhaps just for children to enjoy in the daytime! There are some losses at the back on the right side which are shown in the pictures. Well modeled, functional and unique! Dimensions are 2 3/8 of an inch (6 cms) x 1 5/8 " or 4.2 cms. 1800 - 1868, Edo.

Japanese hand carved wooden SCULPTURE of a large RABBIT sitting on it's haunches. Well modeled wiht a beautiful light slightly "shellacked," patina! Left ear was broken and has been repaired, but the crack is hardly noticeable. Condition is good. Circa: Taisho. Dimensions are 12 inches (30.5 cmcs.) x 8 inches (20.3 cms) in height x 5 inches (12.8 cms.) in width.

Condition is excellent, structurally sound and the lacquer is in good shape overall, with the exception of slight loss of lacquer on the bottom, due to age. Some slight damage to the chest of tools, otherwise, very expressive with wonderful detail. Purchased in Amsterdam @ Christie's, see catalog "Asian Ceramics and Works of Art," 8 May 2001, Lot #50, pg. 22. Height is 1.18 inches or 3.3 cms. Circa Meiji era, late 19th Century.

Japanese Ivory Netsuke of a Man beating on a mokyugo bell (wooden bell for a Buddhist monastery) standing in his kimono and zori sandals. Wonderful detail, even on the soles of his feet! (see picture # 5) Purchased at Christie's in Amsterdam, Holland, see "Asian Ceramcis and Works of Art," 8 May 2001, Lot 50, pg. 22. Condition is perfect and of course the man can stand unassisted. Height is 2.1 inches (5.2 cms.) Circa: Meiji era (1868-1900.)
