This 1-3/8 x 1-1/8" singing music award has high relief music symbols on the front and the engraved dedication on the back; it says E.Y.M.C. 1927 SOPRANO SOLO 1ST PRIZE WON BY PAULINE NICHOLLS. It has the maker's mark BAILEY RD. 26 STERLING, the pin is a brass safety pin, and it weighs 10.5 grams. This item is in excellent original condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs and the ribbon is intact and unsoiled. We haven't polished the medal as it appears to have been originally plated, and the ribbon has some folds. The coin is 22k solid gold and it weighs 7.98 grams with the pendant weighing an additional .82 grams. The setting is an expanding, non-invasive retaining ring with a wirework upper loop. It is unsoldered and the coin can be removed (it can be rotated within the loop, aligning the design if desired). The coin has some mild wear and fine patina from use as a pendant. The pendant is stamped with a full set of Birmingham, England hallmarks (including 375 and a W.P maker's mark). The 9k hallmarks are extremely small and we have reached the age of bifocals, so we can't make out the year date. It is in the graduated Albert design so popular with watch chains at that time, and is in very good antique condition, but please note that the second watch swivel is possibly a replacement (may not be, as it is as old as the chain), based on the fact that it is a slightly smaller size and is stamped STERLING and JS rather than hallmarked. It is somewhat more scuffed in appearance than the first swivel.
