This is a brilliant silver, shakudo and gilt rectangular box on four free-form feet. On its shakudo lid two geese stand among gilt bamboo while a third preens itself closeby. Worked in silver and gilt on a rich shakudo ground, the scene is executed in takazogan (high relief) with fine incised details. This superbly made silver box exhibits the artist's signature on the cover, which reads: "Toshihisa." The box is in excellent condition with no dents or loss. A finely hammered silver, tea strainer decorated on the edges with a dragon chasing the pearl. A pair of silver marks on the underside of the rim. Makers’ mark, not too clear, but looks like SF Sing Fat, Canton. L 17 cm., H 2.5 cm. 78 g. Late 19th cent. Condition: Fine with a few minor dents to the underside.

A hammered silver okimono of the legendary Hotei, one of the Seven Lucky Gods, resting on his sack of “precious things”. He holds an uchiwa in hand, his robes eddying about his ample body. The powerful imagery is enhanced through the use of gilt detailing and the appearance of the dragon’s milieu, tumultuous waves rising from its base. The takarabune, a ship laden with treasure is inlayed using gold and silver in the front of this Kaga-bronze vase by Hongo Kakuho. It is 9-1/2 inches (24 cm) tall and signed on the base, in fine condition.
Hongo Kakuho (1916-1995) is held in Takaoka City Museum.

A unique bronze incense burner (koro) in the shape of a large crow perched on two solid feet covered in a thick, dark patina befitting the creature. The shape has been abbreviated, minor details removed, leaving an almost menacing and mysterious creature of angular forms behind. The wings lift off the back revealing the burning chamber, and one feather curled up on the back allows the smoke to escape. It is 11 inches (27.5 cm) long, 8 inches (20 cm) tall and in overall fine condition.

An elegantly hand-crafted cloisonne obidome of a double-gourd form. The burgundy-colored glass enamelling of the gourd is thickly applied and translucent. The cobalt blue "rope" around gourd has pure gold highlights. Can be used as a pendant. Size: L. 5cm. W. 3cm. Condition: No repairs.
