I have always loved figurals, and this one is fun. It is primarily green enamel and gold plating. The sultan has a light blue glass face and he is hanging onto his turban as he flies through the air. The brooch is 2" x 2" and it is in excellent condition. It is not marked.

This is a vintage panel design rug from The Bakhtiari area in S.W. Iran.It is woven of thick, medium to long, springy soft wool in an open, coarse weave using Turkish knots about 70 per square inch. It employs the "garden" (called Kishti in Arabic meaning panels or boxes)design. The idea being that you are looking through a window at a garden (each panel contains stylized cypress, flowers or fountains or mirror images of such, like a reflection in water).

From northern Iran in the province of Khorassan, we offer this vivid hand woven tribal Belouch. A rugged, fairly thick rug in predominately red and blue colors, it exhibits a pole medallion and a multi-banded border of Botehs and guls. The central field is floral rather than geometric.
