This is a so-called memorial ring. From the mid 1700's till the early 1800's the well-to-do would predestinate a certain part of their financial legacy to have these memory-rings made, once they passed away. In their testament they would clearly stipulated who would get such ring. These rings were then worn by their heirs in memory of their beloved deceased.

The stones are set in silver, and the backs are 18 karat gold. New 14 karat gold shepherd hook ear wires were added to convert the elements to earrings. The last time I had a French paste reviere for sale, was about eight years ago. I just returned from Paris and was fortunate to locate some incredible paste jewelry. This necklace is all original, with bright, clear pastes set in hand crimped collets. Every paste stone is set with foil beneath the stone to maximize the reflection of light. The result is magical. It would be difficult to differentiate a diamond reviere from this example ...click for details

Set of 4

A very rare set of (probably) English 9-7/8" plates in a variant of the original Blue Willow pattern. We haven't been able to accurately identify this pattern with its distinctive border butterflies in our books, however they are definitely Georgian. The porcelain is the expected light gray and the decoration is slightly blurred and each plate has the expected frit and minor variations from the manufacture of these items. It is quite unusual to find a matched set of four of these pla ...click for details
