High karat gold and foiled old cut diamonds will cause an immediate stir when these Georgian, Iberian earrings are worn. The color combination is gleaming while soft. This is a variation of a form that was used frequently in the late 18th century in Spain and Portugal. It is graceful and feminine with a round surmount centered with a diamond. This is so sparkly and pretty! Jane Austen, or one of her characters such as Lizzie Bennet could have worn this. Made from silver (tested), with a base metal pin stem, and set with paste stones, it is in the form of a graceful lyre surmounted by a crescent moon. Crescent moons have represented the mother/feminine principle, with intuitive, psychic energy. Lyres come out of ancient Greece, and are said to represent the underlying harmony of the universe. What’s not to love? It measures 2-3/16” ...click for details

It is graced with two gold dangling chains. The pin measures 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 x 3/4" deep and weighs 8.7g/.31oz. With the chains, the whole piece measure 2-1/2” long. The pin stem assembly appears to be all original. There is one tiny hole in the gold, which is not visible from t ...click for details
