Chiparus portrayed children in his earliest works. This rare and massive example depicts a spirited youth playing pipes. Detailed casting by Etling, the artists early foundry. Greenish patina with contrasting golden-brown high
lights to hair and pipes. A similar subject shown in a photo with Chiparus in his studio; page 13 in "Chiparus-Master of Art Deco", by Alberto Shayo.

Fine Art Nouveau "LE'Tang" (The Pond) Jardiniere featuring frolicking children, circa 1890's. Well cast sculpture by one of the most highly regarded artists working in France in the Art Nouveau Era. A similar example is pictured in The Paris Salons-vol. V, page 369. This is an unusual example by Larche, well known for his design of The Loie Fuller lamp. Dimensions: Height 10 1/2", Width 11 1/2"; signed,circa 1890's.
