A wonderful fourteenth century gilt-bronze figure of Syamatara (Green Tara) seated in lalitasana. Very good condition, with ware to the gilding on the face,(creating a compelling and warm presence energized by the lithe animated pose), some original turquoise, replacement opals, lapis, turqoise and red inserts. Unsealed base. 5.75" (14.5cm) high. provenance on request

A good figure of Nichiren of joined blocked construction with polychrome and gilt over a gesso ground. It has inlaid glass eyes and is inscribed on base in red ink, indicating a date of 1688. 9.5"(24cm) high.

A hanging scroll painting, ink and color on silk. There are a few small holes on the top part of the mounting. Seizan was a Kano school painter named Mimura Yojitsu who served Lord Sanada of Matsushiro. He died in 1858. Size with mounting 70.75" x 21.5" (180cm x 54.6cm), image size 44 1/8" x 16 1/8" (112.2cm x 41cm)

A hanging scroll, ink and mineral pigments and gilt on silk. This painting depicts the Empress Jingo catching a fish without bait, portending a successful invasion of Korea. Towards the end of the Togagawa era there was alot of dissent, and the movement for the "restoration" of the Emperor was threatening the shoganate. This wonderful and elaborate utensil set is in excellent condition. It has ivory chop sticks, an ivory handled knife with carved dragon panels, a ivory handled file, and ivory or bone toothpick and earpic. The case is inlaid with mother of pearl, bone and or ivory and lacquer in a gilded bronze support structure showing designs of dragons. The toggle has a very ancient coin mounted in it. A Korean porcelain jar in globular form with a wonderfully warped neck. Painted in underglaze blue with two flower clusters and two scrolled designs, keyfret motif on shoulder and painted lines around the foot and rim. Only a couple surface glaze cracks to show for it's age. 5"(12.7cm) high x 6"(15.4cm)wide. Choson dynasty 19th century.

A very fine large porcelain vase with foliated rim and decorated with flowers and splashes of gold, on a creamy white crackled ground. Made by Kanzan Denshichi and signed on the bottom Dai Nippon Kanzan sei. Notice the short glaze cracks radiating from the foot, all else in excellent condition. Kanzan Denshichi was a famous Kyoto potter, and his work is represented in a number of museums. This vase was bought in Yokohama in 1954 by a Capt. Joseph Natali from S. A very fine Chinese export fan with filigree brass "sticks" with fired enamel floral motif. The two outside supports are inset with silver floral filigree work. One side is painted with flowers,birds and insects in a vine enclosed central cartouche with smaller cartouches on either side that show fantastic animals. A very rare sculpture of Hayagriva from the Kingdom of Mustang (Mustang is now administered by Nepal, it is where the Tibetan Kampas, warriors for Tibet against the Chinese, where relocated.
