A Chinese export porcelain famille rose saucer dish, decorated with a rare design of a pair of falcons roosting on a branch. Diameter: 8 in. Qianlong (1736-95).
The dish is in pristine condition and was previously in the collection of the porcelain expert David Battie.

The decoration is executed in European style, showing the influence of the Jesuit missionary court artists.

A Japanese lacquer fubako (document box), the exterior decorated with kiri mon on a lustrous roironuri ground, the interior of the lid with an archaistic inscription in silver hirame on a densely-sprinkled nashiji ground. Fittings of silver. Dimensions: 10 3/8 x 5 ½ x 2 ½ in. 19th century.

A large Swatow celadon-glazed dish with incised decoration of a dragon amongst waves and fish. Diameter: 14 7/8 in. 17th century.
There are three hairline rim cracks ( 3 3/8 in., 4 in. and 2 5/8 in.)shown in the details, two with associated chips to the reverse. Wear to the centre of the dish. Typical gritty kiln adhesions to the reverse. No other damage.
A Japanese lacquer letter or document box in the form of a miniature karabitsu(armour box), the black ground decorated in hiramakie with phoenix mons, the interior with sparsely sprinkled nashiji. A Chinese green monochrome hu with elephant head handles, the exterior covered with a mid-green glaze with stained ge-type crackle. Height: 6 in. 19th century.

A globular faceted Japanese lacquer vase. decorated with six panels of cranes and roosters lacquered on eggshell and reserved on a black ground with blossoms in hiramakie. Original liner. Height: 4 ½ in. Late 19th/early 20th cent.
Perfect condition. The liner suggests this was originally intended to hold a small flower spray.
