A Japanese lacquer fubako (document box), the exterior decorated with kiri mon on a lustrous roironuri ground, the interior of the lid with an archaistic inscription in silver hirame on a densely-sprinkled nashiji ground. Fittings of silver. Dimensions: 10 3/8 x 5 ½ x 2 ½ in. 19th century.

A globular faceted Japanese lacquer vase. decorated with six panels of cranes and roosters lacquered on eggshell and reserved on a black ground with blossoms in hiramakie. Original liner. Height: 4 ½ in. Late 19th/early 20th cent.

Perfect condition. The liner suggests this was originally intended to hold a small flower spray.

A Japanese lacquer box decorated in takamakie with a man leading an ox on a fundame ground, the interior with densely sprinkled nashiji. Dimensions: 5 1/8 in. x 3 7/8 in. x 2 ½ in. deep. 19th century.

There is a crack to one corner of the lid. Some faint scratches to sides. Small lacquer loss to one corner. The lid fits with typical exquisite precision. No other damage.

A five-colour Imari bottle vase decorated in underglaze blue, green, turquoise, aubergine and iron-red enamels and gilding with three panels of flowers and rockwork. Height: 8 ¾ in. early 18th cent.

The neck has been broken and reglued. Some small enamel losses. No other damage.

Wear and old damage to the dog’s right cheek and leg. Age cracks. Good colour. No other faults.

A small Japanese kakemono of two birds sitting on a branch of flowering cherry in the manner of Tsubaki Chinzan (1801-54). Dimensions: 19 x 52 ¼ in. Painted area: 13 x 11 ¼ in. Red two-character seal mark. Sumi-e and colour on paper. Inscription on reverse of mount. Fitted paulownia wood box. Probably 19th century or earlier.

An attractive Hirado double-gourd form teapot with dragon spout and handle, decorated in underglaze blue with two sages in a bamboo grove. Height 8 ¾ in. Meiji, late 19th century.

The finial- in the form of a coiled dragon- has lost its head and there are chips- of varying sizes- to all six of the claws on the dragon spout and one of the claws on the handle. No other damage.
