Three chips to the rim at 2.00, 6.00 and 8.00. Two small knicks to the footrim also. No other damage. A nice strong blue.
A fine First Period Worcester teabowl and saucer decorated with a superbly moulded raised scrolling floral pattern within painted underglaze blue borders. Painters’ marks within the footrim of both. Bowl: diameter: 2 7/8 in.; height: 1 ¾ in. Diameter of saucer: 4 5/8 in. 1751-65.
The saucer has a firing crack 2 ¾ in. long visible in the photos. Those done by natural light show the extraordinary fineness of the design. N ...click for details
