A cast white metal Ethiopian Coptic handcross incised with various figures (Evangelists?) on an interlaced background of knots. Inscribed on the shaft. Length: 10 in. 19th century.

The alloy is heavy and quite hard but shows considerable wear from use. There is an old repair at the base of the shaft. It was purchased from an old collection amassed in the Sixties. I have no idea what the inscription says.
