A Straits Chinese turquoise ground famille rose teapot, the compressed pear-shaped body decorated with pink phoenix panels between the arched soupt and loop handle, the cover with small flowering sprigs. Stamped iron-red four-character Tongzhi mark to the base (somewhat rubbed). Height: 4 7/8 in. Early 20th cent.

A dark horn kris hilt carved with a stylised floral design. Length: 4 in.. Probably c.1900.

Slight scuffing and old worn chipping to the corners of the design and lower end of the hilt. No other damage.

A Javanese kris with Madura ivory ukiran. The blade ( carang soka) has a distinct pamor (tiban) probably watermelon skin (kulit semangka). The warangka (ladrang solo) -with an embossed pendok bunton- has been broken across, coloured and repaired. There is some rust to the dapur, though superficial. Really these just provide a setting for the attractive ivory hilt carved with traditional heraldic devices- the flying horse, crown, dragon, leopard etc., presumably derived from trade with Europe. An old Javanese kris lurus (straight-bladed) , the blade with pamor beras wutah, the wooden hilt abstractly carved, with a wrangka gayaman. Length of blade: approx 15 in.; overall length: 20 ¼ in.

The hilt cup and ring are missing (the tang fits snugly into the hilt) and the scabbard has an old damage to the gayaman section (see detail), whic ...click for details

A myin mo Burmese lacquer betel box, kun it, the sides decorated with the twelve signs of the Burmese zodiac, the lid with the eight planets or days of the week. The box has two interior trays. Height: 7 3/8 in; diameter: 8 5/8 in. c.1900. Slight, stable old split to the rim as shown (3 in. long). No other damage.

A set of nine Burmese bronze opium weights cast in the form of lions on a trapezoidal base ranging in height from 4 5/8 in. to a minute ½ in. 19th century.

The weights show signs of considerable use and only one has a suspension loop still on its back (though this may have been too fiddly to cast on the smaller ones). A full set of weights consists of nine, as here. However the last but one shown is a goose rather than ...click for details

An attractive Thai silver bowl with a dedicatory(?) inscription and incised scrollwork at the rim. Diameter: 6 1/8 in., early 20th cent. Hallmarked. Weight: 176 g.

No damage, some very faint dimples on the base. The interior (uncleaned) appears to be gilded.
