A Javanese kris with Madura ivory ukiran. The blade ( carang soka) has a distinct pamor (tiban) probably watermelon skin (kulit semangka). The warangka (ladrang solo) -with an embossed pendok bunton- has been broken across, coloured and repaired. There is some rust to the dapur, though superficial. Really these just provide a setting for the attractive ivory hilt carved with traditional heraldic devices- the flying horse, crown, dragon, leopard etc., presumably derived from trade with Europe.
