A fine brass octagonal sirih (or sireh) box, engraved with repeating geometric foliate motifs, the lid with a T-fret border. Length: 9 3/8 in. Malay or maybe Indonesian. 19th cent. This is a very elegant box and extremely heavy (2.2 kg.). Hinged to the reverse. No damage. |
