A globular Indian brass hookah base cast with a repeating floral design. Height: 6 1/8 in.; diameter: 4 ¾ in. First half 18th cent. The zinc inlay is almost entirely missing and there is an old lead repair within the foot. Zebrowski illustrates a couple of rather similar examples ( Nos 412, 413 ) in Gold , Silver and Bronze from Mughal India, page 242, suggesting they were made in Lahore. |
