An Armenian silver and niello cigarette case inlaid with a view of Ejmiatisin Cathedral, the seat of the Catholicos of the Armenian Church, on a floral and checkerboard ground. Gilded interior, with maker’s marks. Weight: 98 gr. Dimensions: 3 5/8 x 2 x ¾ in. 19th cent. Very slight knock to one corner. Provenance: Sir Denis Wright, former British Ambassdor to Iran (1963-71). |
