An attractive Hirado double-gourd form teapot with dragon spout and handle, decorated in underglaze blue with two sages in a bamboo grove. Height 8 ¾ in. Meiji, late 19th century. The finial- in the form of a coiled dragon- has lost its head and there are chips- of varying sizes- to all six of the claws on the dragon spout and one of the claws on the handle. No other damage. |
