An interesting squat Japanese bronze koro with loop handles and three shallow feet, the style copying an “austere” seventeenth century Ming censer. Archaistic four-character Xuande mark to the foot and signed with a cursive three-character maker’s mark. Width: 5 ¼ in; height: 2 ½ in. Meiji (1868-1912). Mottled patina; the censer may have had a lid, though of course the original Chinese model would not. No damage. |
