Pair of Victorian style chairs of elephant shape, carved from one piece of teak, with faux ivory tusks. Heavy! 20th century. These chairs are a replica of chairs presented to President Theodore Roosevelt at a safari in Africa and are now in the National Republic Club on Capitol Hill. The painting appears to be an example of Balinese glass painting, with Chinese, Arabic and wayang/shadow puppet influences, and very likely dates from the very early part of the 20th century. Pair of very well decorated Imari style vases in coral red, white and green, with scalloped medallions, peonies, chrysanthemums and shishi dogs. The base with underglaze red Wanli mark, together with matching pair of flower containers. The pieces appear to date from the first half of the 20th century. Fine condition. Country of origin: China. Measurements: H 13 1/4", D at top: 6". Containers: H 6 1/2", and 6 1/2" square.

An elegant and fine quality pair of underglaze blue-white jardinieres with matching saucer, decorated in asymmetrical fashion with large spray of peonies, and a small peony on the reverse; the saucer with matching design. Both the pot and the saucer are with crenulated top rim. The pieces date from pre-1970, perhaps first half of the 20th century. Both pieces are in fine condition. Height: 7 3/4 inches. Diameter at top: 10 1/2 inches.
