Fine example of Shodou or Zen Calligraphy showing a very bold and fluid technique. Artist could not be identified by signature and seal. The kanji character reads "kei" which means wisdom, as opposed to phenomenal knowledge (Praj~naa according to Buddhism). Exact age unknown but condition suggests early Showa. Roller is black hollow lacquer. Overal fine condition. Mounting shows very minor signs of prior repair. Size: 53" x 24". |
