Here is a gorgeous pin by Jewelry designer and silversmith Miye Matsukata (1922-1981)who was born in Tokyo, Japan. Matsukata who attended the Museum of Fine Arts School in Boston and was awarded by the school travelling scholarships to both Scandanavia and Egypt. She opened her store, Janiye`, on Newbury Street in 1950 and continued to work there until her death in 1981. A wonderful early example of modernist silver by Mid Century Boston Designer John Lewis. Since 1955 John Lewis has been creating unusual organic jewelry. Recently I purchased it from it's original owner who wore it c. 1970's. Ring is a depiction of a piece textured Coral. Organic, sculptural, and really striking on. Front measures 13/16" W x 1 1/8" H. Very pretty vintage REED & BARTON Sterling Flower pin. I am not sure what kind of flower this is maybe someone out there knows??? Poppy maybe? Measuring 2" W x 1 1/4" H and in all original vintage condition. NO damage or repairs. Marked on back with REED & BARTON hallmark and STERLING. Wonderful pair of mid century pins by Jean Victor Laglye, silversmith, Copenhagen, 1959-83. These pins have great weight at 37 grams! They are unusual amorphic designs, slightly concave, with soft lines. They measure 2"W X 1 1/2"H and 2"W x 1 3/8"H. There is a beveled edge on each pin which creates even more interest.
