| Here is a gorgeous pin by Jewelry designer and silversmith Miye Matsukata (1922-1981)who was born in Tokyo, Japan. Matsukata who attended the Museum of Fine Arts School in Boston and was awarded by the school travelling scholarships to both Scandanavia and Egypt. She opened her store, Janiye`, on Newbury Street in 1950 and continued to work there until her death in 1981. Her jewelry draws from her travels and posesses a timeless freshness and unique perspective! Pin measures 1 3/4" W x just shy of 1 1/2" H. Excellent silver weight and great use of negative space in this design. (I would love to know the inspiration for this pin.) Marked on the reverse with: Janiye` in script, JAPAN, STERLING, 950.
