Crafted during the late 18th or early 19th Century. Hand forged cinch or girth buckles that adorned an important Warrior's or Nobleman's saddle. Iron with silver foil overlay in a traditional Mogul pattern. In very good condition with only slight wear to the silver foil adornment. Dark from oxidation but no pitting. Scarce! 4.25" x 4" & 4.25 x 2.75"

A sweetmeat box, (Mithaidani) or perhaps a Betel Box, (Pandan) in the elegant style of the Mughal nobility who once ruled India. Crafted with a petal motif surrounding the knob and the familiar melon like shape accented with fine silver beading this box probably once adorned a prosperous womans quarters. While the style is Mughal, we feel that this box was probably made in the late 19th C. A previous Western owner has had the box assayed and marked with .925.
