The face of the is engraved with a some what Nouveau engraving which was probably the original decoration with an addition of the 104th Army cypher over crossed rifle and saber The presentation engraving is, as shown on the back of the case. The interior of the case bears on both the front and back the National Mark employed from 1896-1907 as well as the mark for 84 Zolotniks of silver fineness and the assayers mark. The interior was originally gilt but use has worn most away with only traces in the non contact areas. The thumb and locking button are silver. The hinge and lock are sound. The exterior shows slight abrasion and small dents from use and age. A desirable example of Imperial silver used by the early Soviets as an award. Size 2 7/8" x 4".
