WW1 German Commemorative Stein
An excellent and rare, metal German stein crafted to commemorate Germany's entrance into WW1. The body covered with a textured grey material with a prominent, bas relief Iron Cross bearing the date 1914 and the lid an artillery shell finial The handle, base, rims and lid are brass plated and the interior silvered. The overall condition is excellent with surface wear from use and age. The brass plating and interior shows the effect of historic cleaning. The hinge is sound and the lid fits well. There is one small dent in the lid. Reference: Gary Kirsner, German Military Steins 1914 to 45. pg. 23-29. Height, 8" to top of artillery shell, Body is 6.75", the foot is 4.5" in diameter.
