Carlo Chiostri (Italian, 1863-1939) watercolor painting of the interior of the Basilica Di San Francesca, Assisi. Signed lower left and dated 1926. Watercolor on paper. Size: 12.5 inches x 11 inches. This wonderfully detailed work depicts a monk at prayer inside the Basilica at Assisi with its famous frescoes. Carlo Chiostri is best known as the noted illustrator of books about Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi. "Pawlet Houses - Winter" (Vermont) by Jay Hall Connaway N.A. (American, 1893-1970), oil on masonite, signed and dated lower right 1964 and also titled and signed on verso. Size: 18 inches x 24 inches. Excellent condition. Connaway is a noted American 20th century landscape and marine artist who lived and taught on Monhegan Island, Maine and also had a summer home and art school in Dorset, Vermont and later moved to Pawlet.

An impressionist landscape and inscribed on the verso "Hill Rhythms by William Starkweather, painted at Oneonta, NY in 1932." Starkweather was born in Edinburgh and became a landscape painter.
