Carlo Chiostri (Italian, 1863-1939) watercolor painting of the interior of the Basilica Di San Francesca, Assisi. Signed lower left and dated 1926. Watercolor on paper. Size: 12.5 inches x 11 inches. This wonderfully detailed work depicts a monk at prayer inside the Basilica at Assisi with its famous frescoes. An impressionist landscape and inscribed on the verso "Hill Rhythms by William Starkweather, painted at Oneonta, NY in 1932." Starkweather was born in Edinburgh and became a landscape painter. He studied in NYC at the Art Students League, in France and under Sorolla in Madrid, Spain. Size: 13 inches x 16 inches.
