Excelsior mechanical cast iron bank with wooden monkey cashier by Hall. Patented in 1869 as the first mechanical cast iron bank. Wooden monkey cashier pops up from cupola to receive coin and then deposits it into the bank. It is unusual to find these banks with the monkey still intact. Retaining most of the original painted surface. Size: 5 inches ht. x 4 inches x 3 .75 inches.
A rare Scottish dirk adorned with sterling silver mounts engraved with a Celtic interlaced design. The handle grip is carved from dark wood with an woven pattern and set with a large yellow, faceted Cairngorm as the pommel. Edinburgh, 1905-06, by Young and Tattan. This dirk is complete with its leather sheath containing a two-tine steel fork and smaller knife mounted in a similar fashion with Cairngorm pommels. Condition is very good to excellent, with some minor staining to the steel blade. ...click for details
