Stephen M. Parrish etching - On The Thames, Canterbury
Stephen M. Parrish (American, 1846-1938) original etching - On The Thames, Canterbury, England. Date: 1884. Size: 5 1/2 inches x 7 7/8 inches (image only). Signed in the plate in lower left. Condition: full margins, but with some toning and mat burn in the margins. Marked in pencil at lower edge "S. Parrish". Offered shrink wrapped in an acid free mat. Stephen Parrish was one of the greatest American printmakers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was also the father of the illustrator Maxfield Parrish. For two years, between 1884 and 1886, Stephen traveled through Western Europe, painting and drawing for his etchings. This view was created during this sojourn while he was visiting England.
