Maximilien Luce (French, 1858-1941) post-Impressionist landscape painting of a French village with haystacks. Oil on artist board. Signed in the lower right and dated 1903. Size: 13 inches x 18 inches. Condition: as-found, and would benefit from a professional cleaning; some minor paint loss along lower margin. Luce was born in Paris and trained in his early years as an engraver. Later, he entered the studio of Carolus-Duran, where he met and befriended important Impressionist painters such as Camille Pissarro, Georges Seurat and Paul Signac.
