Important incense burner ("boshanlu" in Chinese), of ovoid shape resting on a stemmed base. The censer is decorated on its lid with an openworl design representing mount Boshan of the Taoist paradise, or maybe the three legendary islands Penglai, Fangzhang and Yingzhou, together with several scenes of humans and animals either alone or opposed. Statue of Buddha Sakyamuni, in monk's robes, his face reflecting a profound inner serenity, his hands in "bhumisparsa mudra" ("taking the Earth as a witness of the veracity of his sayings"), sitting cross-legged. Bronze, with fine green patina. China, Ming Dynasty period (1368-1644). Height: 8 6/8" (22 cm). Small casting flaws at the back and right side, otherwise very good condition.

Small cup of classical shape, adorned with stylized "dorje" design all around foot. Inscription inside rim (probably "Om Mani Padme Om"). Solid silver. Tibet, early 18th century. Old restoration and small crack around rim, dent at one side of foot, otherwise good condition.

Buddhist official seal, pierced-through at mid-level, with openwork foliage decor. Incised characters on top (stylized vajras and the Buddhist swastika)) and beneath (the Buddhist Eternal Knot). Iron. Tibet, 18th century, maybe earlier. Height: 1 7/8" (4,8 cm). Overall erosion and oxidization due to use and age, old accident on one side of the upper side (not major), otherwise good condition.

Statue of a protective deity, squatting on a rounded base, hands in praying posture. Wood, brownish patina. Himalayan Region, early 19th century, probably earlier. Height: 13 1/4" (33 cm). Obvious signs of great age, erosion, age cracks, otherwise good condition. Note: this statue was located in a house, to ward off evil spirits. NOTE: this statue is part of several pieces which were collected in the Himalayan Region from 1974 to 1979.

Very large mask representing the Hindu god Hanuman, one of the heroes of the Ramayana epic. Small ears, eyes in relief, long nose and upper jaw, open pierced through mouth showing teeth, large lower jaw. Two large holes at eye level to allow the bearer of the mask to see. Wood, with brown semi-glossy patina. Himalayan Region, early 20th century, maybe earlier. Length: 13 3/4" (35 cm). Small belt hook, main part with an oval shape, its short stem ending in a finely cast dragon head. Round knob at the back for attachment to a leather belt. Bronze, with encrusted dark-green patina. Metal partly showing on the main part (was probably "cleaned" during archeological digging). China, Warring States Period (-475/-221). Height: 1 5/8" (4 cm). Very good condition.

Tiny statue of Hindu god Vishnu, standing on a pillar base, his four arms holding his attributes (lotus flower, club, conch and wheel or chakra). Bronze, strongly eroded, with remnants of red ritual paste. India, 16th century, maybe earlier. Height: 1 7/8" (4,8 cm). Good condition.
